Medical Imaging Laboratory

The medical imaging laboratory comprises various sensor systems for the development of medical diagnosis tools. These range from classical technologies such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound to novel techniques based on microwaves and radar.

LHFT is equipped with extensive equipment for magnetic resonance imaging and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) experiments. A 2 Tesla magnet was specifically built for laboratory EPR experiments.

Scanning whole persons with millimeter-wave radar technology is possible with multiple-input-multiple-output imaging systems with several thousand channels.

Various ultrasonic imaging systems are available for diagnosis and emerging therapeutic techniques such as magnetic drug targeting for cancer therapy.

Radar systems, combinable with lidar and cameras, for various aspects of capturing human motion, e.g. respiration, gestures, gait and more are part of the medical imaging laboratory as well.
