Electromagnetic Modeling and Test
The exact knowledge of material parameters is essential for computer aided design of RF-components.
At microwave frequencies conductor surface profile also has a huge impact on the electrical properties and therefore has to be considered for meaningful simulation results. The LHFT is developing field theoretical models to correctly predict surface effects. As a result our surface roughness model is implemented in the commercial field simulator CST Microwave Studio. Current investigations concern multiple coated conductors, thin rough sheets and mesh dependent field exaggeration as well as surface impact from 3D-printed microwave components.
