The LHFT employees Patrick Fenske and Andre Scheder won the first and second price in the ARGUS Science Awards 2020 from HENSOLDT for their excellent master theses. Patrick’s master thesis, with the title “Investigation of an efficient implementation of a SAR reconstruction algorithm in a multi-user RFID system”, dealt with the design of a particle filter that enables the localization of goods in an autonomous robot-based inventory in real time and with an accuracy of a few centimeters. The theses was supervised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Vossiek and M.Sc. Matthias Gareis. Patrick is currently working on synchronization and coherence generation in cooperative radar networks.
Andre’s master thesis was entitled “Implementation and characterization of an in-band full-duplex isolator for the implementation of a RF front end”. The work was supervised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Vossiek and M.Sc. Patrick Groeschel. In the thesis, an IBFD isolator, which has the task of suppressing self-interference in an IBFD transmission, based on a passive electrical-balance duplexer, was successfully built and tested. Andre is currently working on mmW circuits.
