Johanna Geiß and her co-authors Erik Sippel and Martin Vossiek of the Institute of Microwave and Photonics (LHFT) have won the Young Engineer Prize at the European Radar Conference (EuRAD) 2021 in London. Awarded was the paper “A Practical Concept for Precise Calibration of MIMO Radar Systems”, which proposed an innovative calibration concept for MIMO radar systems, allowing a high-quality calibration in environments with very low requirements. Especially in the area of autonomous driving, this enables fast and efficient calibration of radar systems without requiring costly measurements in unechoic chambers. The EuRAD is part of the renowned European Microwave Week, and is recognized as one of the world’s leading radar conferences.
